Thank You! Thank you all for your extravagant generosity.

Together, Presbyterians have donated more than $4 million for response to the tsunami disaster in South Asia. This exceeds the goal set by Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) of $2.5 million.

This week, PDA sent $3 million of your generous gifts to meet the continuing needs of disaster survivors. This brings the total response by PDA to just over $4 million.

Your funds have been used to feed the hungry, provide water to the thirsty, shelter the homeless, and comfort the grieving. These funds with support the transition into rebuilding communities and restoring livelihoods.

PDA is working in cooperation with mission partners and as members of the Action by Churches Together (ACT) Alliance to respond: Indonesia — working with Church World Service (CWS) Indonesia, YAKKUM Emergency Unit (YEU) and Yayasan Tanggul Bankana (YTB); India — working with Church's Auxiliary for Social Action (CASA) and also working with the Christian Medical Association of India; Thailand — working with the Church of Christ in Thailand; Sri Lanka — working with the Church of South India, the National Christian Council of Sri Lanka (NCCSL), and other Reformed churches in the area; and Somali — working in cooperation with Norwegian Church Aid (NCA), a co-member of PDA in the ACT Alliance.

The initial $320,000 for tsunami response came from One Great Hour of Sharing funds. Generous support of the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering enables a response throughout the year to large-scale disasters such as the tsunami, as well as the small or forgotten disasters that do not draw media attention. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this offering during the seasons of Lent and Easter.
