Situation Report — Colombia

November 2006

A rare tornado struck the northern part of Barranquilla, Colombia on September 15, 2006. At least 100 houses and buildings were affected by the wind and about 1,250 families were affected. About thirty homes were significantly damaged by the wind, and the Colegio Americano, the school related to the Presbyterian Church of Colombia, suffered major damage.

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) provided funds from One Great Hour of Sharing to the Presbyterian Church of Colombia to help with their recovery plan. Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) mission coworker Carlos Cardenas Martinez is also working with the Presbyterian Church of Colombia.
