The devastation of Hurricanes Katrina, Wilma and Rita was unprecedented in the United States, causing more than 1,800 deaths and more than $81 billion in damages. The entire infrastructure for recovery was destroyed within a several hundred mile region along the coast.

Presbyterians responded immediately with funds and by organizing mission trips to assist in the recovery efforts, and made a long-term commitment to be a strong presence and to work alongside families in rebuilding.

Over the past three years, more than 40,700 volunteers have responded to Christ’s call to serve our neighbors. Many volunteers have returned time after time to not only serve, but to be in relationship with each other as participants in the healing love of Christ.

This new video shows how the long-term relationships formed over the past three years continue to transform houses to homes, and witness Christ’s love to the survivors.
