Report from PDA National Response Team
by the Reverends Jim Kirk and Robert Barnes

Monday, April 23, 2007 (Day 7)
Our morning began with a 7:15 a.m. memorial observance for the first two victims, held at the dormitory where it all began. A bit of chanting, more silence, strings of 33 white flags leading a still-silent procession to the Drillfield, where there was a much larger memorial gathering at 9:45 a.m.
In the process of releasing from the assignment, Jim and Bobb sought out the contacts we had made during the week, shared memories, observations and pledges to remain available. Jim fulfilled the wishes of a woman from his congregation who asked him to make contact with her granddaughter.

PDA-NRT members met with local clergy of other denominations to offer support and to supply information on compassion fatigue and to encourage them to be aware of the need to involve local clergy with the resources available through campus ministries.
This concludes our series of daily reports. |
