Dear Friends of the Glen Robbins Church,
It is with heartfelt thanks that we send you this letter to thank you for your most generous contribution to our hurricane relief efforts.
Our small church, having experienced two devastating floods in six years, was well at the end of our rope, financially and emotionally. What a burden you have lifted from us!
Since the September flooding, we have managed to hold services every sunday, except for the one immediately following the flood. Through the tireless efforts of our members, the church and its contents were thoroughly scrubbed and cleaned. But with limited funds, we could not replace or restore any of the damaged items.
Now, with your help, we can begin the restoration process. First on our list is to deal with the large amount of sediment displaced around our church. Our once green grass is now 18 inches of uneven sand, silt, and residue. Restoration will require some type of large machinery to level the ground and reclaim the parking area. We will plant grass seed and replace the damaged shrubs at our church entrance.
Next, we will tackle the damage to the inside of the church. We are currently dealing with doors that are warped so badly that they will not close, and wooden fixtures that threaten to crack and break if moved from their current place of rest. We are also using hymnals and bibles swollen fat from the absorption of floodwater.
These are just a few of the projects that can be undertaken now that we have the resources.
We will keep careful records of all expenditures from your donation, and agree to use the funds solely for hurricane recovery efforts. As specified in your letter, we agree to return any unused amount after our restoration process is completed.
Thank you again for your support. May God Bless You for your kindness.
Sincerely yours,
Lynnette Adams, Treasurer The Glen Robbins Elders and Session
