2009 flooding and other disasters

Florida Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Network (FLAPDAN) coordinates volunteer opportunities in Florida presbyteries affected by hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding and other natural disasters.

Volunteers are needed to help with tarping roofs and mucking out houses in response to spring 2009 flooding in Volusia and surrounding counties.

Skilled and unskilled teams with leadership needed; youth teams welcome; local rebuilding organizations are hosting teams.

Presbytery of East Iowa - flooding response

The Presbytery of East Iowa has several locations hosting volunteer work teams who want to help with reconstruction and recovery efforts caused by flooding in 2008.  The primary need is for skilled workers such as licensed plumbers, electricians and general contractors, and volunteers who are experienced with drywall or who can supervise others willing to do the work.

Overnight teams and individuals: Individuals or work teams wanting to stay overnight at one of the Presbyterian Churches hosting volunteers in Cedar Rapids or Iowa City should contact the PDA Call Center at (866) 732-6121 or register online.

Day teams and individuals: (those who live nearby and do not need lodging): If you can help for one day or are interested in opportunities in other locations, please contact Sarah Dyck at the Presbytery of East Iowa.
