1. May
Ask your session to approve the receipt of the Peacemaking Offering on October 5 and to decide and announce how the congregation’s 25 percent share of the Offering will be used. See “25 Ways Your Congregation Can Enhance Its Commitment to Peacemaking” for ideas. The session may wish to set a goal as a challenge to the congregation. Review the promotional ideas in the packet and develop a plan to interpret the Offering. Order the materials you need.

2. June
Talk to Christian education leaders about including ideas from the Children’s Activity Sheet in the church curriculum on several Sundays before the Offering is received. Develop a plan to use the coin banks to interpret the Offering with children.

3. August
Make sure all the Offering materials have been received. Call (800) 524-2612 if they have not. Display the Peacemaking Offering poster. Plan a worship service using the resource in the packet. Place an announcement in the church newsletter that tells about the Offering, including how the congregation will use its 25 percent share. Plan a meal to promote the Offering in September and use the place mats. Use the Offering PowerPoint CD at the meal or in a worship service.

4. September
Send one or more reminders about World Communion Sunday and the Peacemaking Offering to congregation members. Options include sending the postcard, the brochure “Break the Bread of New Creation,” or writing a reminder in the church newsletter. Place Peacemaking Offering envelopes in the pews on September 14. Present a minute for mission about how your congregation will use its 25 percent share of the Offering. On September 21 place one of the bulletin inserts in the bulletins. Ask someone to present one of the minute for missions in the packet or reproduce one in the bulletin. Tell the congregation how its 25 percent share of the Offering will be used. On September 28 place a second bulletin insert in the bulletins.

5. October
On October 5 use the worship resources and the bulletin covers for World Communion Sunday, present another minute for mission, and place the third bulletin insert in the bulletin. Remind the congregation how its 25 percent share of the Offering will be used; encourage members to continue to contribute throughout the month. Return the questionnaire to the Mission Interpretation Office. Thank the congregation. Ask the treasurer to remit the funds. Retain 25 percent of the Offering for the congregation’s peacemaking efforts and send the remaining 75 percent through your normal receiving site. Your church treasurer will know the procedure.
