Community Presbyterian Church received a letter from its local police department requesting funds to provide safety materials and services to children in the Cascade community. “We strongly believe that by making our children aware we can help prevent tragic loss,” concluded the letter. The police department provides child safety and drug prevention education material designed by the National Child Safety Council for children, preschool and older, and their parents. The session voted to use its portion of the Pentecost Offering for this purpose. “The population of our town is around 1,900 and cost of materials for each child is $2.50,” writes Nancy Macomber. “Through our portion of the Pentecost Offering, 28 children will receive this educational opportunity.”
