The Mission Committee of First Presbyterian Church decided to donate our 40 percent of the Pentecost Offering to ChildServ. ChildServ is a faith-based agency serving children and their families in northern Illinois. Two United Methodist deaconesses started the ChildServ organization in 1894, which took in six street children from Chicago and provided for their care and education. Today they serve over 3,400 children and their families a year. There are thirteen offices throughout Cook, Lake, and DuPage Counties providing services to foster children and their adoptive and biological families. They have preventative programs such as domestic violence prevention, parenting programs, early childhood programs, and full child care settings.
