In 2002, the Ministerial Association of Goldfield, Iowa, established a scholarship fund to assist Goldfield and area residents in sending their three- and four-year-old children to preschool. We are very fortunate to have preschool available in our area, but the program is costly and often prohibitively for so many families. Research has shown that children who have been to preschool have greater success academically in subsequent years. Those who are in lower income families are already disadvantaged, and missing preschool sets them back even more. So, since 2002, our 40 percent of the Pentecost Offering has gone to support the Ecumenical Preschool Scholarship Fund established by the Ministerial Association.
