Presbyterians Organized in Nurture & Teaching (POINT) will gather in San Antonio, Texas, for a day of training on January 27-28, 2009, prior to the Association of Presbyterian Church Educators annual event, January 28-31.
The theme will be "Nurturing Faith Together," an exploration of faith formation in congregations and how best practices in educational ministry set the stage for transformational learning to take place.
The Rev. Dr. Karen-Marie Yust, associate professor of Christian education, Union-PSCE, will be our guest speaker. Dr. Yust is the author of Attentive to God, focusing on adult faith formation and leader development; Real Kids, Real Faith: Practices for Nurturing Children’s Spiritual Lives; andher latest work, Taught by God, a study of transformational learning theories and classic spiritual practices. Dr. Yust has dual ordination in the United Church of Christ and Disciples tradition.
Presbyterians Organized In Nurture and Teaching (POINT) is a network of Christian educators who volunteer to use their expertise in support of the educational ministries of congregations. POINT team members, located in each presbytery, strive to train church leadership in the selection and use of curriculum and other educational materials. Funds will be used to provide resources and training events for POINT volunteers.
