and literacy programs will be held; city tour, including the Temple
of Good Will, Memorial of Indigenous People, Memorial of Presidente
Juscelino Kubitscheck, Dom Bosco Church (the blue church), congress
buildings

Salvador (coastal city in eastern Brazil)
Reflection in Solar do Unhao (where slaves entered the country)
and folklore show; panel discussion with parliamentarians and representatives
of social movements; visit to upper historic city, including colonial
buildings, slave church, orixás museum; African-Brazilian
religion and Candomblé presentation in a terreiro (Candomblé house
of worship); meet students at ITEBA school; meet leaders of the Movimento
dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST—Landless Movement);
meet Irmandade da Boa Morte (women's group which has been around
200 years); visit to lower historic city and Mercado Modelo (market);
visit the slave museum at Solar do Unhao, Dique (lake area)

Rio de Janeiro (coastal city in southeastern Brazil)
Favela walking tour; meet Benedita da Silva; IPU social projects;
city tour including the Metropolitan Cathedral, Corcovado and Sugar
Loaf; worship and lunch with Presbyterians; Maracana stadium and
IPU social projects; churrasco dinner and samba show
Tuesday, October 18–Friday, October 21
Sao Paulo (coastal city in southeastern Brazil)
Visit to a Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST) school;
briefing on women's prisons and social projects; group will
divide for visits to projects that can handle only a small number
of visitors:
- Women's prison
- CISM, women learn handicrafts
- Ser Mulher, help for adolescent mothers,
ages 14 to 21
- Casa Abrigo, housing for women who are
believed to be in serious danger of being killed
- Casa Sofia, aid for women who are victims
of domestic violence
Coletivo Feminista Sexualidade e Saude, health and sex
education for women.
