- Presbyterian Panel Reports & Summaries
Jack Marcum, a sociologist who has served as associate for
survey research since 1988, directs the
Presbyterian Panel, a ministry that "listens to Presbyterians"
quarterly through national surveys of more than 3,500 members,
elders, and ministers.
- Comparative Statistics
The Comparative Statistics
report (an annual Fall publication) summarizes data on the
membership, ministers, and finances of the PC(USA). The report
compares annual statistics to show trends in membership gains
and losses, receipts and expenditures, number of ministers,
and other areas.
- Clerks Annual Questionnaire
Congregational statistics
are based on the Clerks Annual Questionnaire (a two
page questionnaire distributed by the Office of the General
Assembly as a supplement to the Session Annual Statistical
Report). The topics for this report change each year.
- Presbyterians Today - Go Figure! Articles
Go
Figure! columns present statistical snapshots of Presbyterians,
from the beliefs and practices of individuals to the programs
and activities of congregations. Each brief essay combines
graphics and text to highlight interesting and useful findings
from the Presbyterian Panel or other surveys.
Go Figure! is written by John P. (Jack) Marcum and other research
staff. For information about Research Services articles in
Presbyterians Today, email: Jack Marcum.

- Field Guide to U.S. Congregations
The U.S. Congregational
Life Survey is the largest and most representative profile
of the American religious landscape ever developed in the
United States. The site provides a project overview, key results
of the survey, myths, and additional information based on
input from about 300,000 worshipers in more than 2,000 congregations
across the United States. A
Field Guide to U.S. Congregations: Who's Going Where and Why
presents the first comprehensive portrait of U.S. congregational
life in the 21st century in the areas of:
spirituality and faith, activities in the congregation, community
involvement, and worshipers' vision for the congregation's
future. Beyond the Ordinary: 10 Strengths of U.S. Congregations describes the characteristics of excellent congregations. You can find more information about the Field Guide
and Beyond the Ordinary on the U.S. Congregational
Life Survey Web site. You can also order
the Field Guide online from the publisher, Westminster
John Knox Press, or call them at 1-800-227-2872.
- Faith Community Today - FACT
Faith Communities

conducted in the United States. FACT is intended to provide
a public profile of religion in America by providing information

Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, and Orthodox organizations.
Results from PC(USA) congregations are available here.

leaders to correspond with one another about issues facing
the church. For many years, Research Services published research
results in Monday Morning. The articles provide
statistical oriented views on a wide variety of subjects.
- Reports
Research Services' reports
provide detailed statistical articles, as well as, quick tables
and charts, covering the characteristics of PC(USA) members,
