Large numbers of the smallest congregations are without installed pastors. Almost 2,000 congregations with 50 members or fewer, and about 1,000 congregations with between 51 and 100 members, are without pastors. None of the largest congregations (more than 1,600 members) are in that situation.

At the end of 1999, over 70% of the smallest congregations (1-50 members) were without installed pastors, and almost half of those with 51 to 100 members were without pastors.
