Boycotts: Policy Analysis and Criteria

"Boycotts: Policy Analysis and Criteria," commended for study by the General Assembly Mission Council in 1979, documents the long - and evolving - history of Presbyterian recommendation and use of boycott in areas as diverse as temperance, anti–discrimination, divestment in South Africa apartheid, and the selective patronage of only those states that ratified the Equal Rights Amendment. The report examines the legal dimensions of boycott; explores specific strategies and criteria for engagement; and articulates moral and Reformed theological arguments for the stewardship of economic resources in witness to the ethical demands of God's kingdom.
