Haiti Response – Six Months Out
It is six months from the date of the earthquake that shook the region surrounding Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has provided significant aid to the relief and recovery process. Yet, there is much that remains to be done. Haitian President Réne Préval stated back in February that it would take three years to simply remove all the rubble from Port-au-Prince. This gives an indication of the scope of destruction and the reality that this will require a long-term plan of recovery. It is the kind of long-term commitment that Presbyterians and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance has a proven record of delivering time and time again.
