    To combat bullying in Bend, Oregon, the First Presbyterian Church partners with Bend Senior High School in a mentoring program called Link Crew, in which Seniors and incoming Freshmen are paired to ease the transition into high school. Peacemaking Offering funds from First Presbyterian are used to train staff members and to provide the necessary materials for the year's activities. Program sponsors believe the culture at Bend Senior High will become healthier as more Freshmen become connected to this program. (Available as MS Word document)

    Human trafficking is a grave violation of human rights, liberty, dignity, and the right not to be held in slavery or involuntary servitude. Violations of human rights are both a cause and a consequence of trafficking. Traffickers prey on the poor, the under- or unemployed, and those who face discrimination.     Members of St. Paul’s began a letter-writing campaign calling for civility and condemning those who threaten the livelihood or lives of legislators and individuals. Their vision became the catalyst for the new Respectful Dialogue Initiative of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). This new initiative trains and equips Presbyterians to engage in respectful dialogue, building on the ideals of “Seeking to be Faithful Together: Guidelines for Presbyterians During Times of Disagreement.” (Also available as MS Word document)

    The road to recovery has just begun. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is committed to walk with our partners through the immediate-relief and long-term-recovery phases of the response. One Great Hour of Sharing funds have been sent, and members of the National Response Team have already been deployed to help mid councils in their response efforts.
