  • Nurturing the seminarian's spiritual growth — ideas for the session liaison

From Presbyterian Mission AgencyPreparation for Ministry

    —from Grace Presbytery

The session liaison’s experience can be very meaningful not only for the seminary student but for the liaison as well. In ministry as a liaison the elder has a unique opportunity to develop a relationship which involves friendship, encouragement guidance, occasional redirection and joy. The elder works with the seminarian toward the goal of growth into a church professional prepared to lead from pulpit, in board room or hospital room — a person who is eager to sense God’s active presence in any situation.

  • Nurturing the seminarian’s spiritual growth — ideas for the presbytery’s Committee on Preparation for Ministry

From Presbyterian Mission AgencyPreparation for Ministry

    —from Grace Presbytery

With more than fifty inquirers and candidates for ordination to ministry of Word and Sacrament, there is a clear limit on the amount of time and attention Grace Presbytery can give to each person under our care. Still, the members of the committee manage to communicate with each of these people on a fairly regular basis, and the committee does its best to devote personal attention and support to each seminarian. The CPM appoints a liaison from the committee to communicate with each seminarian; most of these suggestions could be implemented best by that liaison.
