The Blue Shirt Ministry grew out of the response to Hurricane Katrina and over the years, this ministry has to continued to grow with volunteer worksites across the country. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance is deeply grateful for the thousands of volunteers who have answered the call to serve and walk alongside communities impacted by disaster.
This training was lead by Rev. Joyce Lieberman and Rev. Sue Krummel, Office of the General Assembly.

The Mid Council Commission II is inviting the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to image a new structure for the denomination’s synods. Hear in these video segments how commission members arrived at their recommendation to the 221st General Assembly (2014), and how the church can work collaboratively to envision new possibilities.
For me it has always been a major meeting of that denominational body that capsulizes the quality, the flavor, the collective personality of that group. And I thought that if I’m going to support PC(USA) students here at Louisville Seminary I’ve got to go to THE meeting that says, ‘this is who we are, this is what we are about, this is what we struggle with, here are the key issues that we allot to us, here is how we argue, here is how we debate, this is how we think hard about important issues that deeply affect us’.

The role of the artist in the community can be one of listening on the edges. As an artist I love to sit in the liminal spaces of a conversation, listening for the passion and ideas, the vision and the plans take shape, and then I inscribe them on a canvas, recording them and making visible the dreams of the gathered the community.
Vernon Broyles, a volunteer serving in the Office of the Stated Clerk of the General Assembly, shared his thoughts on the Confession of Belhar during the annual Polity Conference of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Prior to his work as a volunteer Broyles served in the Social Justice area of the General Assembly Council, now the Presbyterian Mission Agency.
Dawid Kuyler, General Secretary of the Uniting Reformed Church in Southern Africa, engaged in a dialogue on the Confession of Belhar during a workshop at the Polity Conference of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). He discussed the topic with Cynthia Holder Rich, Executive Pastor for Ministry at Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, Kan.; and Charles A. Wiley III, Coordinator of the Office of Theology and Worship in the PC(U.S.A.).
