Minute for Mission: A student-led program of peace

The Rev. Karl Travis, of First Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth, Texas, says it makes sense to commit the congregation’s portion of the Peacemaking Offering to the local public school system’s “It’s Not Okay” (INOK) program. “This is a matter of peacemaking,” he says. “Kids in the public school system are hurting, and supporting INOK and other anti-bullying programs is a way the church can be a voice of reconciliation and affirmation. Bullies in public school grow up to be bullies in the world; kids who are bullied as youth and children carry their wounds into their adult life—this affects all of us.”
