Barbara and Larry teach at Bethel Evangelical Secondary School (BESS) in Dembi Dollo, an institution of the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus. At BESS, Christian and Muslim students learn together in an environment that bears witness to Christ’s concern for every area of life. BESS offers a highly regarded academic program as well as vocational courses that equip students for careers. The spiritual life of BESS is nurtured through chapel services, Bible studies, and prayer and praise programs in student dormitories. In every aspect of campus life, BESS seeks to abide by its guiding principle: “Where Christ Directs Learning.”
