Several Resource Centers have mentioned that having a way to make a presentation to their presbytery or a small group would be helpful. We have taken a presentation first produced by Melanie Crawford for Northern Kansas Presbytery and redesigned it so that it can be used by Resource Centers across the country with some minor changes. There are several organizations that work closely together with the PC(USA) office of Middle Governing Body Services to provide Resource Centers with support, training, and encouragement.
The Presbyterian Association of Resource Centers (PARC) is a good place to connect with other Resource Center directors and to see what others are doing in Resource Center ministry. Their motto is “RESOURCE CENTERS — YOUR MISSION OUTFITTERS.” Go to their web site to get more information.
The Ecumenical Resource Center Gathering is a biennial meeting of Resource Center staff that brings together 200 people from several denominations across the country. The meeting is for information, renewal and networking with one another and members of the wider church. Check out the ERCG Web site for more information about the next gathering.
The National Training Center for Resource Center Directors provides training for Resource Center directors through a cooperative association with Union-Presbyterian School for Christian Education in Richmond, Virginia.
