“Now we’re more about Christ”
Submitted

Presbytery,
Culver City, California
My father, the Rev. David Worthen, pastor of First
Presbyterian Church in Marion, Ohio, had his worship committee read the report. They
read it and liked it very much, and voted to remove the offering plates and flowers
on the communion table and put the cup and plate on it instead, with bread on
the plate each week, regardless of whether they serve communion. They also
voted to process the cup and bread down the aisle at the beginning of each worship
service (much to my dad's surprise!).
In my dad's words: “Now we're more about Christ and less about decorations
and money.” Beautiful. Thanks be to God!
