  Several families formed the Arca del Pacto Home Committee to find and purchase land to construct homes to live in. The families could not afford to purchase land individually but by joining together to purchase the land, the Chilean State government will build the homes with no annual payment for 20 years.   This micro-business will help this community better utilize their skills and experience in making dresses and handicrafts. With the purchase of at least three sewing machines, they are now able to make and sell work, sport and bed clothes. (2004)  
     
  Association of Social Participation Los Purahaes

  Many indigenous poor from the agricultural communities of the Riobamba area have moved to larger cities for economic reasons. Construction of a building for association members will provide educational and cultural services to the community. Indigenous craft sales to tourists will support the Center and provide income for the members. After completion of the building the group plans to install weaving machines provide veterinarian services, training in community development and opportunity recovery of ancestral Purahaes culture for youth. This group from the province of Huancavelica, one of the poorest provinces in Peru came together to fight poverty by breeding alpacas in order to create clothes and other products from the fine alpaca wool for sale. The group plans to build a craft center where these clothes can be made and marketed. This project will help to improve the quality of participant lives. (2006)
