Common Ministry, Shared Celebration

Weekly Eucharist Across the Presbytery

Communion bread and chalice of wine

“Common Ministry, Shared Celebration” encourages presbyteries, in cooperation with congregations, to organize weekly celebrations of the Lord’s Supper across the presbytery. These celebrations, in which we proclaim and enact the unity of the body of Christ, can serve to strengthen and sustain our common ministry and mission, drawing members, ministers and churches together in deeper relationship through our shared participation in the Sacrament.

Each Lord’s Day, one of the congregations in the presbytery commits to a special celebration of the Lord’s Supper “on behalf of” the presbytery, praying for its churches, leaders and people. In turn, on that day, the other congregations of the presbytery may remember and give thanks to God for the life and work of that particular community of faith.
