Peacemaking Offering
As Christians we are called to point to
and become part of God’s peacemaking
in the world. We are called to be agents of reconciliation for individuals, in
families and communities, in the international arena, and with the whole creation,
building a culture of peace.
Since 1980, when the Peacemaking
Offering was first received,
Presbyterians have responded with enthusiasm by financially supporting peacemaking
ministries throughout the church. Congregations have shown great creativity in
strengthening peacemaking efforts within their churches and communities and throughout
the world.
Distribution of receipts
Each congregation is encouraged to keep 25 percent of its
Peacemaking Offering for its own peacemaking work. Another 25 percent is used
for presbytery and synod peacemaking efforts and 50 percent supports the Presbyterian
Peacemaking Program of the General Assembly Mission Council.

When received
Most congregations receive the Peacemaking Offering on the
first Sunday in October, which is also when World Communion Sunday is celebrated.
Standing orders for offering materials are delivered to congregations in May. |
