New prices for Sweat-Free Ts
Thank you for purchasing Sweat-Free Ts! We are raising our prices for the first time ever and appreciate your continued support of Sweat-Free Ts. Consider the following in assessing the true value of your t-shirt:
We continue our strong commitment to the Fair Trade Zone sewing cooperative in Nicaragua. The cooperative was started in part thanks to support from the One Great Hour of Sharing following the devastation of Hurricane Mitch in 1998. As a denomination we have come full circle with this seed money by becoming the cooperative's long-term customer and trade partner. Learn more about the cooperative.
We now offer only organic cotton t-shirts. Cotton is the most pesticide-intensive agricultural crop, using up to 1/3 pound of agricultural chemicals to produce the cotton contained in one t-shirt. Five of the nine pesticides used in California cotton production are known carcinogens in human bodies and they also degrade soils, waterways and ecosystems. Our move to organic cotton t-shirts is part of our commitment to and solidarity with cotton farm workers and God's creation. Learn more about sustainable cotton production from the Sustainable Cotton Project and the Organic Consumers Association.
With rising fuel costs, we have also accounted for a rise in raw material costs that the cooperative incurs, as well as rising transportation costs.
We appreciate your continued support of Sweat-Free Ts! |
