Academy for Missional Preaching leadership
The 2010 Academy for Missional Preaching will include leading voices in how a missional church does church administration, education, worship and outreach in such a way that supports, rather than undercuts, the missional preaching of the gospel.
has taught homiletics and liturgics at Lexington Theological Seminary and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and is a regular contributor to "The Electronic Pulpit" column in Homiletic. He has published articles on preaching and worship in Discipliana, Encounter, Homiletic, Worship, The New Interpreter’s Bible Handbook of Preaching and the Journal of Religious and Theological Information. He is currently a pastor in Tuscon, Arizona, and will be serving as a preaching coach for us.
is a teacher, trainer and consultant who works extensively with Allelon, a movement for missional leaders in North America, and serves as the coordinating team leader for the Mission in Western Culture Project. He is the author or coauthor of several books, including The Missional Church, The Missional Leader and Leadership, Introducing the Missional Church: What It Is, Why It Matters, Liminality and the Missionary Congregation and Reaching a New Generation. He also coordinates an international project that involves leaders from 12 nations who are examining leadership formation in a globalized world by providing resources and leadership development.
is a missiologist who plants and revives churches. Having served on the faculty of several seminaries, he is president of Lifeway Research for churches and writes one of the leading blogs on the missional church. He is author of several books, including Planting New Churches in a Postmodern Age, Perimeters of Light: Biblical Boundaries for the Emerging Church, Breaking the Missional Code, Planting Missional Churches, Comeback Churches, 11 Innovations in the Local Church and Compelled by Love: The Most Excellent Way to Missional Living. His latest research is on preaching in the missional church. His passionate speaking style is sure to engage your mind and fire your imagination.
is associate for worship in the Office of Theology and Worship of the PC(USA). She was called to establish the Academies for Missional Preaching because of her unique expertise in preaching, worship and theology. She has served on the faculties of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and Vanderbilt Divinity School where she taught preaching and worship. She has served as a preaching coach to various denominations’ pastors and will be doing so for us. With a passion for the gospel and a tender heart for pastors, she will be your guide and coach for this entire journey.
An assistant professor of homiletics at Austin Theological Seminary, Saldine is interested in how geography shapes cultural ethos and how landscape imagery is used effectively in preaching. Before going to Austin, she was assistant professor and minister of the chapel at Princeton Seminary as well as the associate director of the Joe R. Engle Institute of Preaching. She will serve as lecturer and preaching coach.
is professor of worship, theology and the arts at Fuller Theological Seminary where he teaches worship and preaching, with a special interest in performance theory and practice. He has also served on the faculties of the University of Notre Dame/Holy Cross Seminary, North Park Theological Seminary and Loyola University Chicago. Johnson is the editor of The Conviction of Things Not Seen: Worship and Ministry in the 21st Century and coauthor of Performing the Sacred: Theology and Theatre in Dialogue, which will be released in 2009 as part of the Engaging Culture series. Along with his theological training, Todd has studied theatre at the Victory Gardens Theater, Steppenwolf Theatre and The Second City Training Center.
is associate professor of homiletics and dean of the chapel at Austin Theological Seminary. Her specialty is how preaching works within the liturgical context and one current focus is in sermonic language and imagery. Her book Finding Language and Imagery: Words for Holy Speech is forthcoming from Fortress Press in the fall of 2009. She will serve as lecturer and preaching coach.
Various missional preachers will also grace us with preaching during our worship times together.

There will also be workshops on how to help coach other preachers so that you can take what you’ve learned back into the field to help others.
