  For those considering seminary
FTE Guide to Theological Education

By The Fund for Theological Education, Jon Hooten, editor (Atlanta, 2005; free online)

So you are interested in seminary, but don't know what's available? The Fund for Theological Education's new online guide is a good place to start. It lists every accredited theological seminary in North America, and gives detailed information on many. In addition to the list, there is an introduction that explains why people choose theological schools, what degrees are available and how to get financial aid.

This free online resource will help prospective seminarians answer the question: "Where do I go for ministerial training?"

Terry Tallent, a Presbyterian pastor in Tulia, Texas, says she couldn't make it as a small-town minister without The Text This Week Web site, Spirituality and Health Web site, beliefnet Web site or Dylan's lectionary blog on Sarah Laughed Web site. Textweek and Dylan's blog (short for Web-log, something like a sophisticated, information-packed diary) offer worship and sermon prep helps. Spirituality & Health's Web site prints back-issue articles from the print magazine plus original online content, and is well known for its library of film reviews by Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat. Beliefnet is a smorgasbord of articles, essays and just plain fun-and-games related to all aspects of religion. (They even have a dating service called SoulMatch.) It is interfaith and has the feel of a USA Today or Entertainment Weekly, only the subject is faith.

Walt Mueller recommends the Center for Parent/Youth Understanding at CPYU Web site. When you check it out, you'll see why—he's the creator and Webmaster! Walt offers opinions galore on popular culture and generational issues of interest to parents of teenagers.

Melissa Tate likes an ecumenical Christian site that she sometimes contributes to—Ecuminet. Find it at Ecumininet web site. It bills itself as an e-zine "for positive people" who are seeking unity in Christ.

San Francisco Theological Seminary student Jonathan Evans plans contemplative worship for youth by checking in with Sacred Space Web site. It's a site maintained by Irish Jesuits and it's great for taking a breath-filled prayer break while sitting at your computer. He also recommends the official site of Sojourners magazine, Sojouners Web site, for progressive views based on sound Biblical principles.
