Purchase the unit, consisting of the seven Workshops below, for $99.95. Bundle three to five units, and the cost drops to $84.95 per unit. Bundle six or more units, and the cost drops to $74.95 per unit. Units must be bundled at the time of purchase; this is not a cumulative discount. Individual workshops are $16.95 each.

The children will have the opportunity to:

  • Locate John 6:1–14 in their Bibles.
  • Retell and discuss the story of the feeding of the five thousand.
  • Create a mosaic remembering the story of the feeding of the five thousand.

The Audiovisual Workshop explores John 6:1–14 through audiovisual media that is heard, viewed or made. Objectives of the workshop:

The children will have the opportunity to:

  • Hear the story of the feeding of the five thousand.
  • Watch a movie about the feeding of the five thousand.
  • Gain an understanding of how people helped Jesus and how they can help Jesus today.
  • Watch the movie We Change the World and learn about One Great Hour of Sharing.

The Computer Workshop explores John 6:1–14 using computers. Sometimes computers are used to tell the story, and sometimes they are used to respond to it. Objectives of the workshop:

The children will have the opportunity to:

  • Hear the story of a boy who shared his lunch.
  • Explore the story on interactive computer programs:

    • Discovery’s Life of Christ
    • The Play & Learn Children’s Bible
    • Charlie Church Mouse: Bible Adventures # 1
    • Kid Pix Studio Deluxe 3rd Edition
  • Think about how they can share what they have.

The Drama/Storytelling Workshop explores John 6:1–14 by retelling the story in ways that help children remember it. Objectives of the workshop:

The children will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn the meanings of several Hebrew names.
  • Play two games that may have been played by children during the time of Jesus.
  • Explore the Bible story.
  • Identify ways that they can do God’s work by offering small things.

The Games and Puzzles Workshop explores John 6:1–14 by having children play biblically related games or puzzles. Objectives of the workshop:

The children will have the opportunity to:

  • Hear the story of Jesus feeding a multitude of people.
  • Learn about hunger in the United States and worldwide.
  • Learn about the Presbyterian Hunger Program, a ministry of the PC(USA).
  • Consider ways they can help feed hungry people.

The Music and Worship Workshop explores John 6:1–14 through music and makes the connection to worship in PC(USA) congregations. Objectives of the workshop:

The children will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn about the order for worship.
  • Hear John 6:1–14.
  • Create a song.
  • Plan and participate in a worship service.

The Bonus: Cooking Workshop explores John 6:1–14 by having children prepare a food item. Objectives of the workshop:

The children will have the opportunity to:

  • Participate in a simulation activity that demonstrates what it is like to have more than they need and what it is like to have less than they need.
  • Hear and discuss John 6:1–14
  • Prepare jars of Super Soup (dried soup mix) to sell to raise funds for a hunger ministry.
