Heart Knowledge: Spiritual Discipline and the Experience of God

One of the great struggles in the life of faith is making the transition from confessional truths to those we have woven into the fabric of our soul. The great rise in popularity of words like "spirituality" reveals the longing for contact with God in our contemporary culture, and books on "spiritual discipline" abound. Few Christians, however, understand the basic elements of a healthy spiritual practice or how to discern which practices are right for them at a given time. The purpose of this study guide is to present a basic overview of the nature and goal of spiritual practice and to offer an introduction to the fundamental elements of a healthy and balanced spiritual life. Each session explores a different component of an overall life of spiritual formation and opens a discussion on how individuals and communities can identify practices that will truly facilitate experiential contact with God.

Session 1: Primacy of Love
Session 2: "Rule" not Rules
Session 3: Food for the Soul
Session 4: Praying Together
Session 5: Individual Prayer
Session 6: Putting the Pieces Together

Young Adult Spring 2005

Real Faith Real Life Bible studies are a great way to study the Bible and current issues of concern for all Christians. While they were created specifically with young adults in mind, the studies can be easily used for adults and older youth.

For each class you will need one Real Faith Real Life study guide for each learner.
