What is going on with the current fascination
of the supernatural? A glimpse at any newsstand, bookstore,
or theater listing will reveal that our culture seems to be
exploring a plethora of psychic, spiritual, and supernatural
phenomena. What does this tell us about our longing for something
otherworldly within the human experience? How does Christianity
speak to this context? Has the church missed the mark in conveying
the mystery and wonder of God? This study pursues an analysis
of the cultures' fascination with the supernatural, the possible
ways these trends challenge the familiarity of Christian faith,
and how our faith can inform the culture's needs for mystery
and awe.
