Unit 1: Introduction to the Course

This unit introduces the students to the New Testament as the story of those who spoke and lived the word of God. The unit also includes a session on the political, social and religious life of Jews in Palestine as the time of Jesus' birth.

Unit 2: Jesus, the Early Years

This unit examines Jesus' life before he began his ministry including his birth and baptism. John the Baptist is also featured in the unit reflecting his role in the preparation for Jesus' ministry.

Unit 3: The Ministry of Jesus

This unit focuses on Jesus' physical ministry beginning with his proclamation in the synagogue (Luke 4:14-44). The unit includes sessions on the call of the disciples, and Jesus' teaching, healing and preaching. The unit concludes with a session about why it was so dangerous for Jesus to go to Jerusalem.

Unit 4: The Passion and the Resurrection

This unit is on the passion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It recounts the events of Jesus' final week from his entry into Jerusalem, the last supper with the disciples, his trial and execution, and finally the resurrection. Unit 4 concludes with a review of the life and ministry of Jesus.

Unit 5: The Beginning of the Church

This unit introduces the students to the book of Acts and the beginnings of the church. Starting with the story of Pentecost, the unit looks at the leadership of Peter and John, Philip, the martyrdom of Stephen, and the debate over whether the message of Christ can be spread to the Gentiles.

Unit 6: The Church Grows

This unit introduces the students to Paul, focusing primarily on the accounts of Paul's ministry in Acts. The students hear about Paul's conversion, his journeys, and struggles with the Council in Jerusalem. The unit also talks about the dangers of following Christ at that time, and how the early church met and worshiped together. There are also sessions on John's letters as examples of the epistles, and how the early church is still connected with the church today.

This unit is a review of the material presented in the course. The last unit also contains optional sessions for Christmas and Easter that can be used at the appropriate times of the year.
