At the annual
Women of Faith Breakfast during the 216th
General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Women's
Ministries honored three women distinguished by their witness
and service. The
2004 award honors women who live out their Christian vocation
in the areas of science, technology, engineering or related
fields.
These women joined other "Women of
Faith," women whose faith informs their work.
- Christine Mann Darden, aerospace engineer, National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (Hampton, Virginia);
- Rogene F. Henderson, toxicologist, Lovelace Respiratory
Research Institute (Albuquerque, New Mexico);
- Ruth Rivera Lane, biochemist/medical technologist/CEO,
All Out Marketing, Inc. (Shorewood, Minnesota)
As elders in their congregation, all three women live out their
faith in many ways. In addition to awards from the scientific
community, the church and community applaud the honorees' witness
and service. |
