The Ghana Women's Project,
a partnership between Women's Ministries and African women,
offers American Presbyterian women the opportunity of sharing
the struggles and dreams of their African sisters in two important
ways.
First, it
allows building deeper relationships between African and
American women. Second, it allows Presbyterian women the
opportunity to support the Institute of Women in Religion
and Culture. This institute honors women's voices and experiences
in programs of theological education and will develop theological
curricula inclusive of gender studies and women's perspectives. One of the aims of establishing the Institute at Trinity is to bring gender sensitivity and gender justice into faith based communities especially where religion is the focus.
We stand with the women of Ghana
and their African sisters as they create a place to grow
spiritually, reflect and do theology together. We stand
with them as they struggle in their church and country
to claim a place for women as leaders.

Mercy Oduyoye thanks the Centre's supporters
We are deeply appreciative of your support as it helps us give gratuities to our many volunteers and continue to do the research into African women in Religion and Culture for which the Circle of Concerned African Women continues to struggle. We are soliciting funds to build Talitha Qumi Centre. Hopefully when the Auditorium, the resource Centre and the dorm wing are completed by the end of this year we shall begin to earn income to support the work.
— Mercy Amba Oduyoye, Director, Institute of Women in Religion and Culture |

Read Beads
and Strands, Reflections of an African Woman on
Christianity in Africa
By Mercy Oduyoye. This book gathers
a wealth of insights under three headings—"Africa
and Redemption," "Global Issues in African
Perspective"
and "Women, Tradition, and the Gospel in Africa." She
brings Akan and other African traditions into correlation
with biblical stories to show the reader how African
wisdom from a woman's perspective offers deep insights
into biblical episodes and themes. (Excerpt from MaryKnoll.)
