Celebrate the Gifts of Women Sunday is set aside to honor women who contribute their gifts and talents to the church and community. In 2007, we celebrated young women who are, and have potential to be, present leaders as well as future leaders in the church. In 2008, we continue the celebration of young women within our church, as well as honoring the “inner young woman” dwelling inside gracefully aging women, who have within them the divine spark of vitality. We invite women of all ages to gather into the community of faithful women who provide leadership and service.

The Presbyterian Planning Calendar designates March 9, 2008, as Celebrate the Gifts of Women Sunday. Celebrate the Gifts of Women is often associated with International Women’s Day, March 8. Many congregations choose the Sunday closest to that date for their annual celebration. However, this resource may be used whenever your congregation or women’s group chooses to celebrate women.

Recommendations from the Women of Color Consultation

What happens at the intersection of race and gender? What impact does that answer have on the life of the church? Those questions and many more were explored at the Women of Color Consultation in the fall of 2004 when Presbyterian women of all ages and racial ethnic backgrounds gathered, through the auspices of Women's Ministries and Presbyterian Women, to share struggles and build bridges. To help the church take on the challenges that were identified, the gathered community of the Women of Color Consultation generated recommendations for future action.
