While we celebrate Jane's long list
of achievements in leadership and women's advocacy in the
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), a special tribute is being
given for her service as interim associate director of Women's
Ministries.
Born to missionary parents in China,
Jane descends from a long line of Presbyterian leaders.
Jane has served Presbyterian Women as
interim program coordinator, the Council on Women and the
Church, the General
Assembly Council, the Joint Committee on Women, social
justice and peacemaking programs, and the Presbyterian Writers'
Guild. She has been recognized as a "Valiant Woman" by
Church Women United and has been granted an honorary Doctor
of Humane Letters by Hanover College. Jane attended Wellesley
College, received her B.A. from Hanover College and resides
in Hanover, Indiana, with her husband Bill.

Jane Parker Huber's creative
renderings of "fresh words to familiar tunes" have inspired
Christians to sing hymns with expansive, gender-inclusive language
and rethink all of the images used for God and people. She has
published several hymn books. During her tenure as interim director,
she fostered stability and continuity through the reorganization
of staff and completion of a General Assembly review. As the respected
sage of the "Ask Jane" column in Horizons
magazine, Jane responds with wisdom and compassion to the difficult
questions of faith and practice in contemporary life. |
