Extra Commitment Opportunities

There is a channel through which gifts can be designated for specific items that support the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s work around the world. These are called Extra Commitment Opportunities (ECOs). You can give directly to an ECO account online or by mailing your check designating the name and account number of the particular item you have chosen to:

PC(USA) Individual Remittance Processing
P.O. Box 643700
Pittsburgh, PA 15264-3700

Your gift will go directly into the ECO Account designated, and you will receive a letter indicating that your gift has been received and will be used for the purpose intended.

Below are two Extra Commitment Opportunities related to Argentina. For a complete listing visit Mission Funding's Web site and type Argentina into the search box.

Mission Personnel

Rev. Kathleen Griffin — Professor of Church History

Katie Griffin, an ordained PC(USA) minister, has served since 1998 in the area of theological education in Buenos Aires. She teaches at ISEDET (Instituto Superior Evangélico de Estudios Teológicos—Instituto Universitario), a university-level Protestant institute. ISEDET is one of the top Protestant institutes for theological education in Latin America. Amid shortages, fuel rations, and other challenges, Katie reflects on her role as a fully funded missionary on the faculty: “This is one of the gifts that the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has made to the University Institute where I am teaching. It is a way in which many of you are able to share the reign of God and God’s justice with millions of church members in Latin America.”

Regional Liaison South America

Gifts to this ECO will be used to defray the direct and indirect costs of travel and operating expenses for the work of the regional liaison in helping implement agreed upon programs with partner churches and institutions, supporting PC(USA) congregations and presbyteries in mission involvement with partners, and supporting PC(USA) mission personnel serving in the region. This region includes Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. The regional liaison also visits Presbyterian theological institutions and gatherings of Latin American seminaries, and assists International Mission in Partnership in developing and implementing a theological education strategy with the PC(USA)'s partners in the region.
