Argentina Programs and Projects

Hunger

In 2006 the Presbyterian Hunger Program made the following grant through Church World Service:

Fundapaz Consortium – CWS — $50,000
Support and Accompaniment to Indigenous Peoples of South America’s Chaco Region Land reclamation, capacity building for advocacy, food security and organizing of indigenous populations in the Chaco region of Paraguay, Bolivia and Argentina.

And through the World Council of Churches:

Church of the Disciples of Christ — $8,000
Community Development Center of Saavedra
Strengthening the education for children under 5 years old at the “La Risita” preschool and supplementing their diet with balanced meals; providing training to their parents for better jobs.

Church of Christ Association ALIDD  — $6,000
La Casita
“Hogar La Casita” runs four homes for street children and adolescents with up to 450 children. It provides training to raise self-esteem, places them in schools, and works to enable them to function in a normal social environment.
