Church Renovation/Construction

Repairs/Reconstruction of the Church of Cuba

Over the years the buildings of the Presbyterian Reformed Church in Cuba have deteriorated. In anticipation of the church's Centennial Celebration a few years ago, a program was begun to renovate 25 church buildings and three manses and to complete one annex already under construction. Contributions will help complete this project.

Education

Evangelical Theological Seminary, Matanzas

From the time of its inception in 1946 the Evangelical Theological Seminary has played an important role in the Methodist, Episcopal and Presbyterian churches in Cuba. Funds are needed for scholarships for the expanding number of Cuban Christians who are interested in a deeper theological and biblical foundation, library acquisitions, program development and increasing administration and faculty needs. Gifts to this project may also assist with necessary related project expenses that are essential to the successful completion of this project, such as mission personnel, travel and administrative support.

Mission Personnel

Rev. Patricia Lloyd-Sidle — Regional Liaison for the Caribbean

Tricia Lloyd-Sidle, an ordained PC(USA) minister, serves as the regional liaison for the Caribbean, with special attention to Cuba and the Caribbean–North American Council for Mission. She also works closely with a number of PC(USA) congregations involved in mission in the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. After more than a decade of work on Worldwide Ministries Division staff, Tricia sensed God’s call back to more direct service on the mission field. “God continues to use me as a bridge between Christians in the United States and elsewhere, now as a mission co-worker.”

Other Support

Cuba: Mobility for Mission

Hard-earned pesos go into the offering plate. But only U.S. dollars will purchase vehicles — and the gasoline to run those vehicles. Help keep our partner church's vehicles running.

Cuba Partnership and Advocacy

Following a decade of church growth and an ever-growing number of partnerships, the Presbyterian Reformed Church of Cuba asked the PC(USA) for a mission co-worker. The co-worker supports U.S.-Cuba partnerships and assists U.S. Presbyterians in their Cuban mission education and advocacy efforts. Funds are needed to defray travel and communication expenses and to produce Cuban resources.

Regional Liaison Caribbean

Gifts to this account will be used to defray the direct and indirect costs of travel and operating expenses for the work of the regional liaison in helping implement agreed-upon programs with partner churches and institutions, supporting PC(USA) congregations and presbyteries in mission involvement with partners, and supporting PC(USA) mission personnel serving in the region. This region includes Cuba, Curacao, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, and Trinidad and Tobago. The Caribbean is the focus for a large proportion of Presbyterians' mission trips and partnership involvements, especially Cuba.
