Coptic Orthodox Church

Evangelical Church of Egypt—Synod of the Nile

This church was established by Presbyterian missionaries in 1854. Its highest judicatory, the Synod of the Nile, was one of the former United Presbyterian Church's synods until it gained its independence a century later, in 1954. Its current emphases include new church development in 38 new Egyptian cities being built in the eastern and western deserts of Egypt, frontier evangelism, construction of meeting places; supply of evangelists and pastoral workers to remote and neglected areas of rural Egypt, especially in the upper (southern) provinces; ministry among the Sudanese refugee and displaced population being resettled in Egypt, especially among youth, homeless and substance addicts; and ministry with children and youth.

Bible Society of Egypt
