Europe Giving Opportunities

There is a channel through which gifts can be designated for specific projects that support the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s work around the world. These are called Extra Commitment Opportunities (ECOs). You can give directly to an ECO account online or by mailing your check designating the name and account number of the particular item you have chosen to:

PC(USA) Individual Remittance Processing
P.O. Box 643700
Pittsburgh, PA 15264-3700

Your gift will go directly into the ECO Account designated, and you will receive a letter indicating that your gift has been received and will be used for the purpose intended.

Below are some ECOs related to Europe. For a listing of giving opportunities in other areas visit Mission Funding's Web site and type other specific countries or regions into the search box.

Agriculture and Hunger

Hunger and Human Development in Europe

Children and their families throughout Eastern Europe continue to suffer from hunger and poverty brought about by civil war, social disruption, political oppression, economic inequities and natural disasters. Church groups and community organizations are mobilized to address these problems. They need financial assistance to support agricultural and economic development, education and nutritional enhancement, and training and technical assistance for poor people in rural and urban areas.

Evangelism

Iranians (Europe) PFF

Iranians may be today's most responsive segment of the Muslim world. Much of this openness occurs as Iranians have been uprooted from their home country. From a base in Berlin, the Rev. Sadegh Sepehri ministers to Iranians who have immigrated to Europe.

Mission Personnel

Give to Mission Personnel in Europe

At first glance one might say that the church in Europe has drifted from its roots. Fewer than 20 percent of Western Europeans say they go to church twice a month or more. However, signs of renewal are all around. God is doing a new thing in Europe. The PC(USA) is a part of this renewal. The group of regional liaisons and mission personnel, both short- and long-term, are vital to this mission. They have an enormous impact on the families and communities with whom they do the day-to-day hard work of ministry in another culture and church tradition. Gifts to this account assure a strong mission connection through our mission co-workers in Europe.

This region includes Albania, Azerbaijan, the Balkans and Turkey. The PC(USA) has been vitally involved in frontier mission efforts in these countries — helping national leadership to develop a strong Christian witness through the formation of indigenous Protestant churches.

Work of the Churches in Europe

The PC(USA) is related to partner churches, large and small, in more than 40 countries in Europe and the former Soviet Union. Each church has identified opportunities for outreach that require resources they are unable to provide. Gifts to this ECO make funds available for some of the most critical needs in this region. They may also assist with necessary related expenses, such as mission personnel, travel and administrative support.
