History: |
The Evangelical
Theological Seminary was founded in 1863 by members of the American
Mission in Egypt. The American Mission was undertaken by the United
Presbyterian Church of North America (UPNA), now the Presbyterian
Church (U.S.A.). The Seminary's first location was Asyut. the
Seminary was established in its present location in Cairo in 1926.

Profile: |
The Evangelical Theological
Seminary in Cairo has over 180 students. Most of the students
are Egyptians, but many other nationalities are represented. A
sizeable group of students comes from the Sudan to prepare for
pastoral ministry or for teaching religion in secondary schools.
The student body represents many denominations. There are 30 faculty
members, 9 of whom are full-time. At the present time, the Seminary
grants two degrees: The Bachelor of Theology and the Diploma in
Theological Studies. The Seminary is making preparations to offer
two new degrees in the near future: The Masters in Theology and
a Diploma of Higher Studies in Theology. |

The Evangelical Theological
Seminary of Cairo was founded to train pastors and other leaders
for service in the Evangelical (Presbyterian) Synod of the Nile.
The Seminary strives to attain high academic standards in every
area of biblical and religious studies. |
