History: |
Satya Wacana
Christian University (SWCU) was established by nine Indonesian Church
synods as a teacher training college on November 30, 1956. By 1959
the college had developed into a university. The University included
Education, Economics, Theology, Law, Agriculture, Biology, Electrical
Engineering and Science and Mathematics. It has since expanded to
include Post Graduate Programs in Development Studies, and in Religion
and Society. |

Profile: |
Satya Wacana Christian
University has some 7,000 students and 260 faculty. If offers a
four-year Degree Program, Postgraduate Programs ranging from 2 to
4 years, two-year Professional Programs and a Diploma Program for
Primary School Teachers. In addition, there is a University Research
Institute, a Community Outreach Institute, a Guidance and Counseling
Center and a Center for Micro and Small Enterprise Dynamics. |

Mission: |
Satya Wacana (which
means "Faithful to the Word") Christian University is a scientific
and educational community of teachers and students dedicated to
service and to preparing Indonesian youth for leadership in church,
society and nation. The ideological basis of the university is Pancasila
(or the five principles of the state's philosophy: belief in a unitary
deity, nationalism, democracy, humanitarianism and social justice)
and its inspiration comes from the Bible. |
