Extra Commitment Opportunities

There is a channel through which gifts can be designated for specific items that support the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s work around the world. These are called Extra Commitment Opportunities (ECOs). You can give directly to an ECO account online or by mailing your check designating the name and account number of the particular item you have chosen to:

Education

Reformed Theological College, Budapest

The Reformed Church in Hungary has a membership of 20 million. The seminary in Budapest is one of two Reformed seminaries in Hungary. The building is the property of the Danubian Church District of the Reformed Church. Besides urgent repairs, the construction of a new wing to provide modest and suitable accommodation for the students and to make necessary enlargements to the library and the archives is imperative.

Evangelism

Korean Culture and Mission Center

This center seeks to develop opportunities for friendship and mutual mission between Christians in the Reformed Church in Hungary and the Presbyterian Church in the Republic of Korea (PROK). Gifts to this project may also assist with related essential expenses such as mission personnel, travel and administrative support.

Roma PFF (Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship) (Europe, Hungary)

This fund assists a ministry to the Roma (Gypsies) of Europe. Funds will go to support the program expenses of Burkhard Paetzold as he works with the PC(USA)’s European partners to develop ministry that proclaims the Good News to the Roma in a holistic manner.

Mission Personnel

The Rev. Kathy and Joseph Angi — Facilitator for Psychosocial and Child Care

Kathy and Joe Angi serve in Budapest. Kathy, an ordained PC(USA) minister, is the first mission worker assigned to be a field presence for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, traveling to various regions of the world to help churches respond to and prepare for disaster. Kathy and Joe are involved in refugee ministries and Bible studies in Hungary.

Other Support

Hungary Young Adult Volunteer Program

Young adult volunteers serving in Hungary experience a year of developing Christian community through spiritual formation and volunteer service. Serving at several sites across Hungary, young adult volunteers live together in Christian community and serve neighborhood ministries. Gifts to this ECO will be used for programmatic site support or to directly support young adult volunteers through reimbursement of outstanding student loans, housing and food allowances, and/or a travel subsidy.

Regional Liaison in Central Europe and Roma Ministries Consultant

Gifts to this ECO will be used for operating expenses, travel and administrative expenses for the work of the regional liaison in helping implement agreed-upon programs with partner churches and institutions—supporting PC(USA) congregations and presbyteries in direct mission involvement with partners and giving practical, pastoral and culture/language transition support to other PC(USA) mission personnel serving in the region.
