Disaster Response

The war against Iraq, the events leading up to it, and its aftermath and consequences have presented serious issues around which much reflection and discussion has taken place. The process continues as people seek to comprehend the events and to respond. Presbyterians, with people around the world, struggle to come to terms with the reality of human pain and suffering that war brings to all parties involved.

As is true of people across the nation and the world, Presbyterians have a variety of views of the war. Drawing on their faith, Presbyterians come to different understandings that lead to different actions. A number of program areas and offices have created and identified various resources to help Presbyterians engage in prayerful reflection, respectful debate, and faithful ministry in the name of Jesus Christ during this time.

  Peacemaking

The Presbyterian Peacemaking Program, in cooperation with the Middle East Office and other partners, offers resources in the hope that they will help Presbyterians engage in a variety of ministries at such a time as this.
