Middle East Giving Opportunities

There is a channel through which gifts can be designated for specific projects that support the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s work around the world. These are called Extra Commitment Opportunities (ECOs). You can give directly to an ECO account online or by mailing your check designating the name and account number of the particular item you have chosen to:

PC(USA) Individual Remittance Processing
P.O. Box 643700
Pittsburgh, PA 15264-3700

Your gift will go directly into the ECO Account designated, and you will receive a letter indicating that your gift has been received and will be used for the purpose intended.

Below are some ECOs related to the Middle East. For a listing of giving opportunities in other areas visit Mission Funding's Web site and type other specific countries or regions into the search box.

Agriculture and Hunger

Hunger and Human Development in the Middle East

Children and their families throughout the Middle East continue to suffer from hunger and poverty brought about by social disruption, political oppression, economic inequities and natural disasters. Church groups and community organizations are mobilized to address these problems. They need financial assistance to support agricultural and economic development, education and nutritional enhancement, training and technical assistance for poor people in rural and urban areas.

Evangelism

Strengthening Evangelical Witness in the Middle East

Evangelicals in the Middle East are tiny minorities within minorities. Most churches suffer from a sense of isolation and abandonment. Through the Fellowship of Middle East Evangelical Churches (FMEEC) those partner churches are supported in their understanding of their common identity and heritage, their place within and contribution to the ecumenical Christian witness and their commitment to share the good news of Christ in their societies. Gifts to this ECO will help FMEEC strengthen the witness of Evangelical Christians through lay training programs for women, youth, evangelists and evangelism teams, church school teachers and young pastors.

  E864370   Goal: $150,000

Human Rights, Justice and Peacemaking

Peacemaking in the Middle East

Gifts to this ECO will assist peacemaking, reconciliation and conflict resolution in the Middle East. Other goals include developing educational and human resources to enable U.S. Presbyterians to learn about the complexities that exist in the region.

Mission Personnel

Give to Mission Personnel in the Middle East

The Middle East is the cradle of Christianity. Indeed, it is the birthplace of Judaism, Islam and Christianity. To this day the Middle East bears the richness and strife of these major faith traditions as these cultures face the challenges and threats of secularization. The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has 20 mission personnel working with ecumenical and interfaith partners in the region. Gifts to this account assure a strong mission connection through our mission co-workers in the Middle East.

Other Support

Mission Partnerships in the Middle East

The PC(USA) has had over 150 years of mission work in the Middle East that has flourished at the hands of its partners. With the severe reductions in budgeted grants to church partners, the need for support is ever more urgent. This ECO gives a special opportunity to persons and churches who believe in the PC(USA)'s mission partnerships in this region to undergird a variety of sustaining and innovative ministries carried out by a number of solid, well-established partners in the Middle East.
