Nepal Partner Churches and Organizations

United Mission to Nepal

The United Mission to Nepal (UMN) is a cooperative effort between the people of Nepal and a large number of Christian organizations from more than 15 countries in four different continents. UMN was established in 1954 with a mission “to minister to the needs of the people of Nepal in the Name and Spirit of Christ, and to make Christ known by word and life, thereby strengthening the universal Church in its total ministry.”

UMN’s vision is that “Nepali individuals and communities will be able to secure their basic needs in a sustainable manner through participation in effective and self-reliant Nepali organizations, including Nepali Christian organizations.”

In 2003–2008 the UMN is giving priority to:

  • addressing root causes of poverty
  • addressing injustice
  • peace and reconciliation
  • relief

UMN will seek to build the capacity of Nepali partners and contribute to the development of national policies in these areas.
