Serbia

Religion has been a source of conflict and enmity in Serbia and this region for many years. The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s mission partners need support to move toward grace and healing after a long history of violence and war. The PC(USA) supports Christian witness and service, and the peace process, through partner churches.

Peace-building among nations is a high priority in this area after recent wars. Development of peace studies and other peace-building projects in regions with recent war experience are a challenge. Theological education needs to offer interfaith understanding that bridges between cultures and denominations.

According to the U.S. Department of State, Kosovo is legally still part of Serbia and Montenegro, although it remains an international protectorate of the United Nations. See the Kosovo Web page for further information.
