Q. What is the
PYC e-mail list?
A. It's the primary way to "get connected" online
with the Presbyterian Youth Connection. Basically, we have discussions
about various topics of interest to youth and those who minister
with them. These topics can vary from church polity relating to
youth ministry and youth service to favorite games for youth group. |

Q. Who can join?
A. Anyone is welcome; however, if you are not interested
in detailed discussion of Presbyterian youth ministry, you may
become bored quickly. We also ask that you follow the general
guidelines for this list that you will find below. The list administrators
and owners reserve the right to remove anyone from the list or
restrict postings to the list at any time for any reason. If you
wish to question the decision of the list owner, please contact
pyc-admin@pcusa.org. |

Q. How do I
send a message to the list once I am subscribed?
A. Just make a new message to pyc@pcusa.org
and send it on through. It will automatically be sent to everyone
who is subscribed! Note that you must be subscribed to the list
in order to submit messages. |

Q. How much
traffic does the list get?
A. The answer to that question varies on a day-to-day basis!
Some days there may be only one or two messages sent to the list,
but other days can bring up to twenty or more. On the average,
though, the list receives about ten to fifteen messages daily. |

Q. Do you have any standards for content
or messages sent to the list?
A. The list is unmoderated, so content is only monitored
after it has been sent. However, the following are some general
guidelines for messages sent to the list:
- Don't send messages that have been forwarded many times.
Many times these large messages can cause various problems
with people's e-mail systems and cause them to lock up. Virus
alerts, chain letters (no matter how harmless or pitiful they
seem), and other such messages are generally false, pointless,
and wasteful of our scarce computing resources and should
not be sent to the list.
- Don't send attachments to the list. These messages are not
processed properly by many mail systems and can cause large
amounts of garbled characters to be sent through to others.
If you need to send an attachment to the list for some reason,
please place it on the Web and then post the URL to the list.
- Don't send HTML-formatted messages to the list. Many newer
e-mail clients produce these messages by default, but older
clients and all users on PresbyNet will only receive a message
that is more than twice the size and has only garbled text
to show for it. If you have questions about your e-mail program
or are unsure if you are sending HTML-formatted messages,
please write pyc-admin@pcusa.org.
- When you reply to a message, do not quote the entire original
message; rather, remove the parts of the original that do
not pertain to your reply. If you will be replying point-by-point,
quote each point and then state your reply.
- Be sure that your replies are intended to be sent to the
entire list. Clicking the "Reply" button on most
mail programs will send the reply back to everyone on the
list, not just the person who sent the message originally.
If you need to reply to the sender of the message, take the
email address from the original message - DO NOT click the
reply button.
- Please be sure that your first and last name appear somewhere
in all of your postings. AOL members do not automatically
show their names - you must manually add it in unless you
want everyone to know you only by your screen name!
- Don't send one-line replies such as "Amen!" or
"I agree" to the entire list. Doing so only clogs
up e-mail for everyone on the list, and many on this list
receive large amounts of e-mail.
People who consistently abuse these guidelines or show consistent
disrespect toward others on the list will be removed at the
discretion of the list administrators and/or the list owners.

Q. Can I announce
my youth event on this list?
A. Sure! Be aware that there may not be people in your
region signed on to the list, but we'd love to hear about it anyway.
Just keep us updated on its status and post the original announcement
only once or twice. |

Q. Can I promote my product on this list?
A. No. Anyone who uses this list or addresses revealed
through this list for commercial solicitation beyond simple
promotion of youth events and official resources of the Presbyterian
Youth Connection or the Presbyterian Church (USA) will be immediately
removed at the discretion of the list administrators and/or
the list owners.
